Lauren's Nest Egg

Lauren’s Nest Egg is a 501c3, non-profit, tax exempt charitable fund. It was founded in 2010, in memory of our daughter and sister, Lauren Leigh Colvin. She was a true and dear friend to all who were lucky enough to know her. Lauren had a very large servant’s heart, and incredible desire to to help the most fragile and vulnerable people in our society. You can easily see it in her eyes and smile.

With this in mind, we have made our goal at Lauren’s Nest Egg to raise funds, and make grants to qualified non-profit agencies that have the greatest need and must provide a unique and necessary service focused on helping others overcome homelessness successfully.

We are the principal fundraising arm of The Renesting Project. Renesting’s mission is in perfect alignment with our goals. They help fill a huge need of service agencies that help the homeless escape homelessness. In a very brief description, The Renesting Project takes in donated used furniture and home furnishings; they inventory, refurbish, and warehouse these items. Qualified agencies serving the homeless can contact Renesting with a list of needs as they have clients ready for them. Renesting then packages all the needed goods, moves the goods in, and arranges them for the person, or family, being helped. The Renesting Project provides their services free of charge.

Currently over 24 different agencies are utilizing the services of Renesting. Over 350 families, and individuals, have been served. Over 99% of the homeless served have successfully remained out of homelessness! Some of the agencies being served include Habitat for Humanity, The Fuller Center, Providence House, VOA, VA, and Hope for the Homeless, among many others.

YOU, through Lauren’s Nest Egg, played a major role in helping many homeless families and people get a new start and successfully escape being homeless.

Through your generosity and support, hundreds of lives have been turned around. Your attendance at Nest Fest, and generous donations, made it possible for us to help the homeless get a firm foundation in their new life through our partners at The Renesting Project, Habitat for Humanity and many other organizations. Look at what was accomplished in just a year and a half thanks to you, from our start in 2010 thru Dec. 2011:

HUNDREDS of families and individuals have been helped.

Almost 50% of these people are Veterans.

99% of all who have been helped have successfully remained in their home.

Over 1,100 pieces of furniture, home furnishings, and boxes of household supplies have been delivered and set up.

Over 20 different social service agencies have been impacted.

A new Baton Rouge flock has begun, benefitting their areas agencies serving the homeless.

The annual NEST Fest fundraiser has been a gigantic success, and now, much anticipated event .
