The Renesting Project

Over 314 families and individuals served!

99% have successfully remained free of being homeless!

Over 1,100 pieces of furniture, home furnishings, and basic household goods boxes have been given!

The Renesting Project is a non-profit outreach mission that began in 2010. Their sole purpose is to gather reclaimed furniture, furnishings, and household goods to be given to individuals and families escaping homelessness.

How does it work? The Renesting Project may be contacted by any qualified non-profit social service agency that helps people escape the nightmare of being homeless. Arrangements are then made for delivery, and setup of the items requested that the agency’s clients need, at no charge. Should the agency wish to pick the items up themselves, this is always welcomed. They are simply here to serve.

Imagine. Imagine being homeless. It is an incredible, unfathomable combination of losses which can include the loss of financial resources, job or retirement security, shelter, friends and family! It is devastating at a level where the simple act of starting again must seem impossible. Worst of all, there is no road map. To even consider what being homeless must be like is beyond comprehension, and makes one immediately thankful and humbled.

However, the great news is that there are people, and groups, who want to help!

Imagine finding an organization to help you escape homelessness. Shelter, support, training, counseling, many wonderful programs are available through a variety of groups.

Ideally, your life starts over yet again with a sense of thankfulness, and hope. You have a new level of routines, faces, and friends that you share a lot in common with.

Next, after a great amount of work and investing hundreds of hours of sweat equity and study; you finally graduate from the program and qualify for an apartment or home.

Imagine. You are finally getting into your home or apartment. It is a new environment with new people all around you. You have to deal with yet another new beginning. Unfortunately, you are starting out with nothing to place inside your new home but what you can carry from wherever you just left. Not even a bed, or table, or chairs.

These are things most of us cannot relate to at any level. Remember the scene from Blindside when Michael exclaims in a pure moment of overwhelming emotion about never having had a bed!? This is what we are addressing! There are actual moments during a renesting that those being served are present and you witness these types of scenes. It is impossible to describe all the feelings you then experience. It is unbelievable what these encounters do for you.

The founder of Renesting Project has seen this big need. The majority of service organizations are not able to gather, inventory, warehouse, transport and setup for each client and their homes or apartments. It is not the fault of those agencies, the resources required to do this job are huge. Their main focus is helping people get out of a homeless situation. Their resources are stretched to the point that this very large piece of the process is so big that they simply do not have the volunteers, warehouse space required, and ability to move the goods that a centralized, focused mission such as Renesting is able to offer.

This is where Lauren’s Nest Egg steps in and we need your help. We are here to help raise awareness and funds for these amazing people. Thus we are able to serve all agencies without having to pick between any of them. All are served. You can help by attending Nest Fest, donating auction items, becoming a sponsor, and by praying for our continued success. Volunteers are welcome. We want to see you there this August 4th!

How you can help The Renesting Project. It is able to receive anything you may wish to donate or contribute. If you would like to help by volunteering, or by donating any household items (beds, furniture, kitchen items, bathroom items, artwork, lamps, etc.) please contact:
